An article is a written piece that, depending on its content, can fall under expert or journalistic writing. The term is often used for any news piece published in print or online. An article contains: a core idea (thesis) argumentation conclusions Articles can be freely available through free newspapers or online news. Reading an article, however, is usually paid for — either by buying the printed periodical or by paying for online access. Print newspaper sales are declining across the board, and only about 1% of visitors in the United States, for example, pay for so-called locked articles behind a paywall.
